About Us
Founded by Emma and Robert in 2004, Heart 2 Heart Puppies Is a Family Run Business, Based in Hawesville, KY
We are the Mast family, residing in the picturesque countryside of Kentucky’s beautiful Bluegrass State. On our small farm, we share a deep passion for God's incredible creatures, especially our beloved dachshunds and horses. Robert grew up with a little dachshund, so it was only
natural for us to welcome a few into our family after
marrying in 2004.
We are blessed with two wonderful sons who love playing with our dogs and helping keep everyone happy and socialized. We take pride in selectively breeding for health and temperament, following a strict vaccination and deworming protocol, and conducting genetic testing through PawPrint Genetics to ensure our puppies are
well-cared for.
A special note about our journey: after living with cardiomyopathy since 2007, Emma received a second chance at life in 2018 through a heart transplant from a generous organ donor.
Our name and logo honor the greatest hero we never knew, reminding us of the incredible gift of life and love.
We are dedicated to raising quality, healthy, well socialized puppies for loving fur-ever homes.
Every litter is welcomed with great joy and love. The greatest reward is to see our puppy being loved by their new family.
We believe adding a new puppy to your family should be a wonderful experience and we are here to do all we can to make that possible!
Canine Care Certified
Becoming a Canine Care Certified Breeder is just one of the many programs we proudly partner with. Offered by Purdue University as a public service, this initiative aims to elevate breeding standards. Developed by Dr. Candace Croney, Ph.D., in 2013, the Standards of Care are rooted in extensive research and guided by a Scientific Advisory Committee.
Breeders who seek certification must meet or exceed rigorous welfare standards covering nutrition, veterinary care, genetics, housing, handling, socialization, enrichment, and exercise.
For consumers, choosing a Canine Care Certified Breeder means that puppies and their parents are raised in an independently audited program that ensures specific health and welfare standards are upheld. These breeders are dedicated to the physical, genetic, and behavioral well-being of their dogs, continually striving to raise the standard of care for their puppies and parents.
